Purchasing a wholesale bakery business in Kaeo with no prior baking experience, Serena & Aaron had an outlook that the first year would likely be filled with training & establishing their knowledge.

As it would happen, they quickly passed this stage – feeling confident and ready to engage in focused expansion and growth strategies. While both were really enjoying working in the new business, it was taking up more time than planned, with a constant flow of ‘to-do’s’, every day.

Operating on a wholesale basis producing wood fired oven baked goods, the business had a steady retail customer base – both locally in The Far North and via Farro Fresh in Auckland. There were some existing pain points and challenges that Serena and Arron were wanting to address, including production capacities, pricing alignment and distribution channel focus. The business was also ready to increase to more retail accounts with a focus on Northland first for both freight efficiencies and brand establishment.

Launching the Kerikeri based company to market entailed creating a strong website that was attractive to target consumers and integrated with e-commerce functionality for a simple online sale experience.
